manicmanda Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 Hi,My indicator on my right side wouldnt work so i took to a garage that specialises in so called auto electronics, in their advert saying they were specialist with their equipment.A week later they still have my car, no phone calls. I have called them numerous times, once they said they were awaiting Parts, thus being a flasher relay although now realising that the flasher relay is built onto the fuse box, they now said i needed a new fusebox. Rather than pay £800 from ford for a new one (which i cant afford and that is more than the cars worth) they said for me to try a scrappys. I did, i had fusebox delivered to them , still no call. This is over a week now they have had my car. I dont think it was a fuse box problem, therefore me wasting money on one. I told them in the beginning i thought was a bad earth and i think i am still right, yet they still have my car. I have 3 younger children to ferry about and i want to know my rights. Every time i have passed the garage it is still stuck outside, never indoors where they do the work. Can i take my car (bearing in mind that they havent broke it- as it was mechanically sound before i took it there apart from a non workin indicator) can i ask for my car back considering they have done nothing yet made me pay out for something i didnt need....... what are my rights in this... any help would be appreciated Btw still think its an earth prob! a18nkd Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 my own personal opinion would be go and pick your car back up and take it somewhere else if the car is as it was when it went in then the fault has not been fixed also get the parts that they have they may charge for labour or not but getb everything off them and go else where Quote
acecard Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 Unfortunately they may be messing you about simply because you're a woman. These things do happen. Not sure about exact consumer rights in this situ, you might like to check with CAB, Trading standards etc?I would definitely advise taking a man with you to the garage if as I suspect they are less than honest with the girls,Good luck, keep posted on developments, Quote
manicmanda Posted October 20, 2012 Author Report Posted October 20, 2012 Thanks for reply guys Had dealing with thus garage before and thought they were a rip off... only went to them as they advertised online saying I quote "You then need the correct expert knowledge to be able to understand the auto electrics diagnostics. We have invested heavily in the equipment and expert technicians needed to do the job quickly and efficiently." do you think bringing my large male rottweiler there then may help :angry2: Quote
acecard Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 Yeah - know the type, they pay more for the advertising than they do on the equipment. To be honest, they don't need more than a multimeter and a smattering of electrical knowhow for the fault you describe, let alone advanced diagnostics. The Rottweiler will be useful, you could also borrow my cross border collie, and I mean he is CROSS! :angry2: Quote
gregers Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 do ypu not have and male friends who have some knowledge of cars that can go with you? Quote
manicmanda Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 had someone look at it and they think it electrical as indicator would come on and off when they were checking the car, they dont know anything about wiring, hence why they said would need someone with electronics knowledge, hence goin to that garage. hey what is the most labour they could charge for fitting fusebox? as i dont want them saying i have to pay like 3 hours labour before i can take my car- jus need to know how long it would take them !!! Going to get my car back on monday for sure and call proffesional auto electrician out! Quote
